Thomas Edison, Here I Come!

Oh, summer. What sweet bliss you are!

I love everything about summer. I love the pool. I love sleeping in. I love all day access to my sweet pups. I love seeing my husband more. I love vegging out in front of the tv. I love eating on the patio. I love ice cream, sprinklers, fire works, watermelon and slightly burned hot dogs. For about 4 weeks. And then I start thinking about....school.

I'm definitely there! I've been daydreaming and Pinterest-ing and reading up on everything from The Sisters. Clearly there's something wrong with me.

I have been teaching at Napier Enhanced Option School here in Nashville for the past three and a half years, ever since I student taught there, did a maternity leave there, and was hired on full time there in 2008. After three and a half years of inner city five year olds, I can say my teeth are sufficiently cut...and tired. I loved my babies! I loved my coworkers! But there is a season for everything under the sun. A time to stay, and a time to run like the wind!

So, next year I will be the new girl in school. I will be teaching Kindergarten at Thomas Edison Elementary. I am excited to experience something new. A new building, new people, new kids, new demographic. I am ready for change.

I stopped by the school a few weeks ago as teachers were packing up rooms, and was able to look at what will probably be my new classroom. It may be the room across the hall, but they are the same for all practical purposes. Both classrooms also have teachers who are retiring and leaving most of their things in their classrooms. I imagine I will have my work cut out for me at the end of July when I move in. :)

Here's the before pictures...Can't wait to get my hands on it!
My friend, Amanda
Look at all that space!
This room is way bigger than the room I am coming from. I know it's smaller than a lot of other Kindergarten classrooms out there, but I will take it and be glad!
Oh, the wheels are turning...
